World Cup Wrap-Up Matchday 3

Algeria 0-1 Slovenia
35' SVN Radosavljevic (YC)
59' ALG Ghezzal (YC)
73' ALG Ghezzal (RC)
78' SVN Koren (0-1)
90+3' SVN Komac (YC)
90+5' Yebda (YC)
This was just a game I didn't feel like waking up for at all, even though I do fancy Slovenia's chances to advance to the knockout rounds. I saw Slovenia's goal, and it was solid, so let's see how things play out the rest of the group
ALG Verdict: About what I expected from them. Though they beat African giants Egypt to qualify for the World Cup finals, I didn't expect much from them. Based on the highlights I saw, England and the US should make quick work of them.
SVN Verdict: A good result for the nation of 2 million. I always say you can never count out these small Slavic countries, so I think the Green Dragons havegot a good shot of stealing at least a point or even a win out of the Yanks
Man of the Match: Robert Koren (SVN)

Serbia 0-1 Ghana
19' SER Zigic (YC)
26' GHA Vorsah (YC)
54' SER Lukovic (YC)
83' SER Kuzmanovic (YC)
85' GHA Gyan (pen) (0-1)
89' GHA Tagoe (YC)
Both teams looked rather sluggish, but a foolish and completely unnecesary handball in the box from a Serbian defender gave way to the first penalty of the 2010 World Cup, and it proved to be the difference between the two teams.
SER Verdict: A solid game, but they were slow and uncreative. Their only hope for points lies with Australia.
GHA Verdict: Like Serbia, they looked rather unresponsive and not creatively driven. They stand a solid chance of advancing as they still play Australia.
Man of the Match: Asamoah Gyan (GHA)

Germany 4-0 Australia
7' GER Podolski (1-0)
12' GER Ozil (YC)
24' AUS Moore (YC)
25' GER Klose (2-0)
46' AUS Neill (YC)
56' AUS Cahill (RC)
58' AUS Valeri (YC)
67' GER Muller (3-0)
69' GER Cacau (4-0)
90+2' AUS Cacau (YC)
Such a shame I had work during this game. I missed out on seeing by far the best team we've seen in tournament so far. This match was a combination of Australia's ineptitude and Germany's tactical dominance, making for a rather one-sided affair.
GER Verdict: As Germany always is, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. There were a lot of questions going in on how the German side would fare without Michael Ballack, but Joachim Low, the master tactician, has once again proved he has the best run team in football.
AUS Verdict: Probably tied with Greece for worst showing by any team this tournament, the Aussies just never really showed up, to be frank. They probably won't even salvage any points, since they lost their best player, Tim Cahill, to a straight red card.
Man of the Match: Thomas Muller (GER)
